The ProjectTRACKER functionality is based on Programs, which consist of normal Tasks, Scrum tasks and Activities. A program could be e.g. a release of a SW application consisting of block of tasks and activities belonging together. A typical program page looks like:
|Name||Program name filter.|
|View||Program view filter.|
|Program ID||Program ID filter.|
|Show Inactive||When set also all inactive, and normally hidden programs are shown.|
|Export to MS Excel sheet.|
|Opens the Reports page showing all reports including 4 in the report view.|
The program inline report with the name _Program Page Report is shown right to the Search Program form when defined by a user with “Report” rights.
|ID1)||Internal program ID.|
|Name2)||Name of the program.|
|Clicking on the note icon will open the Program Description field. A blue icon indicates that there is a description available. A tool tip with the content of the description is shown as soon the mouse cursor will be moved over this field. The Update button saves the description. The Close button closes the description field without saving.|
|Clicking on the activity icon will open the Activities table. A green icon indicates that activities are defined.|
|Record Owner3)4)||Owner of the program record.|
|Start Date5)||Start date of the program. This value will be automatically updated with the lowest start date of the Tasks associated to this program.|
|End Date6)||End date of the program. This value will be automatically updated with the highest end date of the Tasks associated to this program.|
|Team Planned||Team assigned in Plan via Alloc field.|
|Team Allocated||Team allocation measured via time tracking Efforts and copied to Cur. efforts in Plan.|
|Effort Velocity||Is the effort in person days per week this program is executing / “burning”. The effort per person would be then this value divided by Team Allocated.|
|Default Velocity7)||Allows to set a default for the effort in person days per week this program is executing / “burning”, e.g. to be used for reports or calculations before the program starts.|
|SP Velocity||Is the effort in story points per scrum cycle this program is executing / “burning”. The story points per person would be then this value divided by Team Allocated.|
|Default SP Velocity8)||Allows to set a default for the effort in story points per scrum cycle this program is executing / “burning”, e.g. to be used for reports or calculations before the program starts.|
|Effort/SP Ratio||Calculates Effort Velocity divided by SP Velocity.|
|Active9)||Set program to active / inactive. An inactive program is not visible in other ProjectTRACKER pages, e.g. program selection lists. Inactive programs are also excluded from all effort calculations.|
|Visible||Sets the views status of the program. Programs not selected are not visible in other ProjectTRACKER pages, e.g. program selection lists. In difference to inactive programs, programs not selected in the View are still visible to other users. The visibility can be selected also via the View page.|
|View|| Opens Program Visibility page where the site / location view, means visibility of a program, can be defined. A program is visible only to users, who belong to the program site / location visibility. In case no view is defined, the program is visible only to the ProjectTRACKER administrator10). Newly created programs are automatically visible to the program site / location of the user who defined the program. A tool tip with the program visibility is shown as soon the mouse cursor will be moved over this field.
Note: Only users with “Site” access rights can see and use this functionality.
|Copy||Users with “Create” rights can copy programs and the associated tasks depending on the Program Copy Options.|
|D/W||Delete / Write indication. In case a check box □ is available you can delete the program. When you move the mouse cursor over the field a tool tip shows the owner of this record.|
|Indicates the record is write protected. To still write to your own records choose another filter criteria to reduce the list to entries you are allowed to write.|
|Copy Program+Tasks||Copy program and all associated tasks.|
|Copy Program+Tasks+Alloc.||Copy program and all associated tasks and task allocations.|
|Copy Program+Tasks+Alloc.+Year|| Copy program and all associated tasks and task allocations. Task allocations will be moved to the current year setting.
Note: The copy function exactly copies all fields of a program / task. You have to modify the program / task dates and dependencies manually in case you move them to a new year!
Note: Only the Plan allocation values will be copied not the Curr. values.
The ProjectTracker facilitates the refinement of Tasks into Activities and with this enables Program / Project horizontal and vertical dimension definitions, e.g.:
Program / Project dimensions can help to better control your program, while reducing the administration overhead and time recording effort of the team. For implementing the dimensions the following recommendations should be followed:
In ProjectTracker the Activity definition page looks like:
|ID11)||Internal activity ID.|
|Name12)||Name of the activity.|
|Description||Description of the activity.|
|Global||If set, the activity is visible for all programs with the same Top Level Group name.|
|Active13)||Set activity to active / inactive. An inactive activity is not visible in the Task Activities page.|
|Del||In case a check box □ is available you can delete the activity.|
|Update||Store program entries.|
|Cancel||Reload page without storing.|
